IMPORTANT PRODUCT INFORMATION

PACKAGING

Please note that our product is not boxed in customer-facing packaging, nor is it individually boxed. We are happy to have transitioned our ceramics packaging to a sustainable all-paper based model, using no plastics or styrofoam.

TERRACOTTA WARE

Please note, our artisan-made traditional terracotta collection takes more care and attention than machine made product.

•Prior to first use, all pieces must be washed by hand in hot soapy water, well rinsed and allowed to air dry. To maintain the integrity of the pieces (i.e., colour, glaze), dishwasher use is not recommended.

•Terracotta is naturally a porous material. While the porous nature of food-safe glazed terracotta will decrease over time and with continued use (by washing the pieces and allowing them to fully air dry between uses), we do not recommend the pieces be used as long-term storage for food or liquids. Please protect delicate surfaces that may be affected by water marks.

•For vases, or if using a terracotta pitcher or jug as a vase, please change water daily and protect delicate surfaces that may be affected by water marks. Jugs, pitchers and vases are shipped with a dual-language product info card with this information.

•All our pieces are handmade and hand-painted. Some marks in the glaze are natural and expected, as is some crazing. This will not affect the use or durability of the pieces.

•Please expect differences in sizes with our terracotta collection, since all pieces are handmade.

•All patterns are painted by hand. Please expect differences in patterns, colour intensity and painting styles between shipments.

•Please note, we do not warranty our dishware for commercial use.

•Not oven safe. Microwave is suggested only for brief reheating, not cooking.

•When storing terracotta dishware, please ensure the pieces are completely dry before putting them away. In this case, we recommend storing pieces upside-down in a well-ventilated area.

•All product is shipped with a Casa Cubista brand sticker unless otherwise stipulated.

•When ordering, please adhere to minimums by colour.

SQUARE + LEAF PLATES AND PLATTERS

These pieces are moulded, not thrown on the wheel, and are dishwasher safe.

TERRACOTTA OVEN-TO-TABLE COLLECTION

These oven-safe pieces are made using a rough, traditional form of red terracotta clay that has been used for centuries. Grit and small stones are normal within the clay, as is an uneven glazed surface.

•Pieces must be at room temperature before being used in the oven or under the grill. A diffuser must be used if a piece is used on a gas burner. Please use only for brief reheating, not cooking, in the microwave (the clay conduscts the heat).

•Marks in the glaze are natural and expected, as is some crazing. This will not affect the use or durability of the pieces.

•Please note, we do not warranty our oven-to-table product for commercial use.

VESSELS

A collaboration with our potter, Rui, on a special series of decorative vessels exploring the mix of traditional construction and contemporary design. Each is thrown on the wheel by him, dried in the sun, fired, boldy painted in black and fired again to a matte finish.

•Decorative use only. Not water safe.

•Unglazed matte finish.

•Clean with a damp cloth.

TILES

Our tiles are made by a family-owned tile manufacturer, and are all made by hand using traditional methods from the 16th and 17th century

•Handmade of terracotta using traditional methods, tiles are notched at back for easy hanging.

•The back of the tile is unglazed. If using as a trivet or coaster, please take care with delicate surfaces.

•For use as a trivet; the tiles are durable and can withstand high heat and are dishwasher safe.

CORK BOWLS

Our cork pieces are made using traditional methods by a family-owned cork firm.

•Cork bowls are finished with a hydrophobic solution.

•Please wipe clean with a damp cloth.

TEJO STOOL

This piece is made by a traditional Alentejan furniture maker, with decades of experinece. Made by hand of pine, the seat is handwoven in rush.

•Stools are shipped assembled.

•As is traditional, the frame is finished after the seat has been woven. This naturally results in some small marks on the rush where the seat meets the legs.

•To clean, wipe the frame clean with a damp cloth. Lightly brush the woven seat, vacuum with a soft brush attachment, or use a damp cloth.

•Interior use only.

WOOD COLLECTION

Our wood products are made by a master woodworker who's craft, and tools, have been handed down over generations.

•Wood products are made of Portuguese chestnut and European ash wood and are all made by hand. With all wood products, grain, knots, carving and wood colour will vary by piece.

•Wood products are lightly finished with matte varnish. If using bowls or trays for food service, please note that oily products may stain and mark the wood.

•Black stained wood is designed to ‘age’ through use. Lighter wood will show through over time.

•Stools are shipped flat-packed, and legs easily screw into seat for quick assembly.

•Candleholders should only be used on a level surface. Do not allow the candle to burn to the base. Never leave burning candles unattended.

•Wall plaques are notched at the back for easy hanging.

•To clean carved wood, please wipe with a damp cloth. Do not submerge in water. Trays can be occasionally oiled with food-grade mineral oil for added protection.

CANE PRODUCTS

The cane products are handwoven by a family that got their start by making fishing baskets.

•The seat of the Cane Chair is woven by hand in natural cane and is separate from the matte black finished iron base, allowing you to adjust the pitch of the seat. The cane seat is supplied in a standard varnish finish.

•The Cane Coffee Table comes with the tabletop attached to the wrought iron frame.

•The chair and coffee table are suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. For outdoor use, please cover and protect from rain. During winters with snow and ice, please store the pieces inside.

•Our Cane Stools are reinforced with an internal wooden frame and are not suitable for outdoor weather conditions.

CANE PENDANT LAMPSHADES

•Lampshades are not fitted with an electrical fixture, but are designed to allow for threading of a fixture of your choice. LED, fluorescent or other low-wattage bulbs must be used.

WOVEN LINEN TOWELS

Our linen products are handwoven by Maria on traditional wooden looms, some of which are hundreds of years old.

•Linen towels are woven by hand of 100% Portuguese linen. Please wash cold and air dry, or dry clean.

•Iron on reverse side.

WOOL BLANKETS

Our blanket company weaves and brushes the blankets on traditional machinery in the hills north of Lisbon.

•Blankets are 100% Portuguese wool. They can be washed cold and allowed to air dry, or dry cleaned. Medium temp iron, if needed.

CUSHIONS

Our cushions are spun and woven of thread recycled from the fashion industry.

•All cushions are sold without a fill. All styles have a zipper.

•Cushions fit a standard 65cm insert.

•All products can be washed cold and allowed to air dry, or dry cleaned. Loose threads can be trimmed.

RUGS

Our rugs are spun and woven of thread recycled from the fashion industry.

•All rugs are reversible. Please consider using a non-slip rug underlay.

•Geo Art designs will vary by piece and by size.

•All rugs - except those woven with jute - can be washed cold and allowed to air dry, or professionally cleaned.

•Rugs woven with jute can be spot cleaned or professionally cleaned.

•Vacuum on the 'hard floor' setting. No beater bar.

•Loose threads can be trimmed.

•To keep shipping costs down, all large rugs (200cm x 300cm) are shipped folded. Large rugs should be unfolded and laid flat or hung to remove any crease marks.

SLING CHAIR AND OTTOMAN

The fabric of our sling chair and ottomans are spun and woven of thread recycled from the fashion industry.

•Ottomans are sold without a fill and include a zipper closure on the underside.

•We recommend filling with polystyrene chips (not beads).

•The cover can be washed cold and allowed to air dry, or dry cleaned. Loose threads can be trimmed.

•The Striped Sling Chair is shipped flat-packed and is assembled with a hex key.

•The sling seat is made of the same material as our cushions and ottoman.

•The frame is powder-coated steel in a matte black finish.

•To clean, spot clean or remove the seat from the frame, wash cold and allow to air dry, or dry clean. Loose threads can be trimmed.

DO CAMPO CANDLES

Made by Do Campo, a young Portuguese brand.

•Hand poured vegetable wax with a 'crackling' wood wick in a handmade terracotta container.

•Each candle comes with a hand-stamped cotton gift bag.

•When the candle is finished, use the container as a planter.

•Never leave burning candle unattended.

•Protect delicate surfaces.

•Do not allow to fully burn to the base.

•Keep away from flammable items and children.
